The Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg presented awards to the winners of the Ecology - Everyone's Business award from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region

On December 15, the Rotunda of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg hosted a solemn awarding ceremony for the winners of the Second International Children's and Youth Award "Ecology is Everyone's Business" from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

The welcome address to the winners of the award from the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Belsky was read by Deputy Alexander Novikov. The awarding ceremony was attended by Mikhail Kozminykh, Head of the North-Western Interregional Department of Rosprirodnadzor, Alexander German, Chairman of the Committee on Nature Management, Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety of St. Petersburg, and Spartak Chkhetiya, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources of the Leningrad Region.

The children were awarded diplomas, valuable prizes, as well as gifts prepared by the committees.

Among the winners are 12 children from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, whose works were awarded by the jury of the award chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko out of more than 45 thousand.

Among the winners is Boris Glushak, a fourteen-year-old from St. Petersburg, who was awarded the Grand Prix Prize from the chairman of the jury Victoria Abramchenko for the ecological project "Cascade-1 Photobioreactor" on the use of chlorella vulgaris microalgae, which allows to obtain oxygen from carbon dioxide and humidify the air.

And, ten-year-old Kristina Kabanova has developed a Smart bag for waste collection, which should prevent the formation of garbage dumps in forests.

A separate special prize was awarded to 5 educational institutions and the center for social assistance to families and children, who, in addition to diplomas, were awarded certificates for seedlings.

In total, children and teenagers of St. Petersburg sent 740 works for the award in 2022, which is 5 times higher than last year, the number of works received from the Leningrad region amounted to 1,322. More than 45 thousand works have been received from Russia and the countries of the near and far abroad. The International Children's and Youth Award "Ecology is everyone's business" was established by the Rosprirodnadzor service in March 2021 for children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years in nine nominations: two team ones - "Eco–family" and "Eco–School". And seven individual ones - "Ecomir", "Ecoproject", "Ecobloger", "Ecorisunok", "Ecofocus", "Ecomultfilm", "ESG-generation".
